Quinnesec

 

Quinnesec, Michigan sits on the Menominee River about 3 miles east of Iron Mountain and is home to Billerud Paper, a pulp and paper mill which currently employs 520 people. Quinnesec’s name is derived from the Ojibwe “bekweneseg,” meaning “smoky,” named after the Big and Little Quinnesec Falls. Population was 1,203 at the 2020 census. Learn more here.
