Urologist Medico Legal Expert

Currently in practice, Certified Medical Assistant with > 30 years of experience in surgery (neuro, general medicine, orthopedics, urology, vessels, plastics, traumatology) and medicine (emergency, critical care, hospital, profession), extensive experience as an expert witness for the plaintiff and defense, physician. All active U.S. AAU members with a good reputation are eligible to register as potential experts in cases of professional misconduct. Applicants must work in the clinical practice of urology with at least five years of post-residency clinical experience. A valid, unrestricted medical license and current certification from the American Board of Urology is also required. Applicants must be prepared to fairly review cases filed on behalf of parties alleging a violation or on behalf of health care providers. Experts are required to review the entire medical record and any basic information before giving an opinion and giving opinions on the basis of relevant guidelines or scientific literature. Registrants are expected to provide an open, honest and complete assessment of potential (confidential) liability to the party withholding them – but they are not required to testify if they cannot support the party`s claims. Experts may be called upon to testify in court, facilitate a proper settlement of the claim (with or without a trial) or provide legal advice in the event of a rejection.

Our urology experts actively practice and have experience in the physiology and pathology of the genitourinary tract, surgical urology and urological oncology. Expert Institute recruits experts for cases involving botched vasectomies and resulting injuries, male infertility, erectile dysfunction, incontinence, trauma and urinary tract injuries, prostate cancer, kidney failure, kidney stones, prostate enlargement and laparoscopy, endourology, urinary tract problems and bladder complications, genitals, prostate and kidneys. I am a board-certified urologist and have been practicing academic urology since 2007. I am an associate professor of urology at a large academic institution in the Mid-Atlantic region. Since 2015, I have been working as a medical malpractice expert. Responsible lawyers share a common interest with physicians in obtaining objectively sound expert opinions in all cases. No lawyer is interested in taking on (and funding) a case that causes the plaintiff to lose because the initial opinion did not stand up to the court. Doctors constantly complain about malpractice, but consistently refuse to review complainants` cases – so these cases are accepted for review by “hired weapons” ready to support almost any claim.

Thus, by not participating in the review process, competent physicians can contribute to the situation they are complaining about. The Physician Assistant Expert Network™ is a referral resource for lawyers seeking medical advice on the standard of practice for physician assistants and advanced nurses.

The PA Experts Network was founded by Jeffrey G. Nicholson, PA-C™, Ph.D., M.Ed., MPAS, an experienced forensic professional. Over the past decade, the Judicial and Ethics Committee has refined the AAU`s expert policy to allow for a thorough review of cases brought to the Committee`s attention by the members concerned. These reviews have allowed the AAU Board to impose sanctions in support of the Expert Directive, where appropriate. However, this retrospective approach does little to protect AAU members from the burden of future malpractice cases.
